Gold price rising as investors seek safe haven

Fuelled by fears of sovereign debt defaults in Europe and further monetary easing in the U.S., investors have been seeking the safe haven of gold. International gold prices have soared above US$1,700 per ounce, with prices having already risen more than 18 percent this year.

美国债信评危机，投资人争先恐后减持高风险资产，重击股市与美元汇率，带动国际金价涨翻天，突破每盎司1700美元新高，金价今年已上涨超过18%。

The short-term outlook for gold is more rises, but Bank of Taiwan manager Terry Yang says investors need to look ahead to the U.S. Federal Reserve’s policy meeting Tuesday. If Chairman Ben Bernanke emerges from that meeting and announces a third round of quantitative easing, the price of gold could hit US$1,800.

虽然现阶段黄金的走势仍然会居高不下，台湾银行副理杨天立表示，美国联准会周二将召开利率决策会议，一旦主席柏南奇会后宣布将推第三次的量化宽松措施，金价登上1800美元的天价，也不无可能。
